Iranian musician and santur player Parviz Meshkatian said on Monday that singers who hold workshops should concentrate on discovering the talented youth.Referring to the workshops underway by the living legend of Iranian traditional music Mohammadreza Shajarian, Meshkatian added that musical voice is a divine gift bestowed on human and should be employed in singing in the best way.
“However, talent is not enough for a student’s success. Nothing will happen if the trainee doesn’t practice properly. Larynx is just an organ that needs training.”
Commenting on tests administered for Shajarian’s workshops to select the potential students, Meshkatian said that such choice is not only required in singing but also in every artistic field since an instructor can perfectly assess the learning potentials of students through years of experience.
