Parviz Meshkatian, one of Iran’s best musical masterminds, legendary composer, and Santur player passed away last month at the age of 54.
Musicians and poets will celebrate his successful life and music in a small gathering at Jan Popper Hall, UCLA.
UCLA’s professors and students as well as some of LA’s local musicians will be performing and reciting poetry as a tribute to his memory.

TEHRAN, Sept. 21 Iranian santur virtuoso Parviz Meshkatian passed away on Monday afternoon.
Meshkatian died of heart failure at his home in Tehran, his nephew Behdad Babaii told the Mehr News Agency.
He was 54 years old.
Meshkatian was the leader of the Aref Ensemble, which did its last concert tour of Iran in November 2007.

TEHRAN — Musicians from Golestan Province are giving concerts in honor of santur virtuoso Parviz Meshkatian in their home province.
Chakavak band gave its first performance in Gonbad-e Kavus on Sunday, and was warmly received by a large number of audiences, the director of the Gonbad-e Kavus Culture and Islamic Guidance Office said on Monday.
